Rick Witham

Head Snowboard Coach
My love for winter and being out on the slopes started at a young age as a skier, however, when snowboarding came along it didn't take me long to make the transition.  I began riding in 1987 at a small local mountain in Hermon, Maine.  I have been hooked ever since. My professional career began as an instructor at Smugg's in 1995.   Over the next few years I pursued my AASI Level II certification and then, in 1999,  I started coaching here at SNSC and have moved foward to a certified USASA Level II coach.

My passion for this sport runs deep. I love the energy, committment and excitement that young athletes bring to snowboarding and truly love sharing this with them.  I enjoy all aspects and disciplines of snowboarding, including Freestyle, Backcountry and Alpine.

When I'm not on the snow I like to stay active and enjoy the outdoors. I am an avid mountain-biker and also like to surf. I love spending my free time with my family; my wife Amy and my sons, Gregory and Brooks.
